Ghostly Goat Cheese Crostini
Ingredients:
- 1 baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch rounds
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 8 oz goat cheese, softened
- 2 tbsp cream cheese
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1/2 tsp fresh thyme leaves
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1/3 cup fig jam or raspberry preserves
- 2 tbsp chopped walnuts or pecans
- Fresh thyme, for garnish
- Black sesame seeds or tiny pieces of black olive, for the ghost eyes
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 400°F. Arrange baguette slices on a baking sheet and brush lightly with olive oil.
- Toast for 7–9 minutes, flipping once, until golden and crisp.
- In a bowl, beat together goat cheese, cream cheese, honey, thyme, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until smooth and creamy.
- Spread a small layer of fig jam or raspberry preserves onto each toasted baguette slice.
- Spoon or pipe the goat cheese mixture over the preserves, shaping it into small ghost-like mounds.
- Add two tiny black sesame seeds or pieces of black olive to each mound for the eyes.
- Sprinkle with chopped walnuts or pecans and garnish with fresh thyme.
- Serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to serve.
