Spiderweb Deviled Eggs Recipe
Spiderweb Deviled Eggs
Ingredients:
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups water
- 1 tbsp white vinegar
- Black or dark purple food coloring
- 3 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 tsp yellow mustard
- 1 tsp pickle juice
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp paprika
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Black olives, for spider decorations
- Fresh chives, optional
Instructions:
- Place eggs in a saucepan and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat, cover, and let stand for 10–12 minutes.
- Transfer eggs to an ice bath and cool completely.
- Gently tap each egg all over with the back of a spoon to create a network of cracks. Do not peel.
- In a bowl, combine 2 cups water, vinegar, and enough black or dark purple food coloring to make the water very dark.
- Place the cracked eggs into the dyed water, making sure they are fully submerged.
- Refrigerate the eggs in the dye for 30 minutes.
- Remove the eggs from the dye and carefully peel away the shells to reveal the spiderweb pattern.
- Slice the eggs in half lengthwise and remove the yolks.
- Mash the yolks with mayonnaise, mustard, pickle juice, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper until smooth.
- Pipe or spoon the filling into the dyed egg whites.
- Decorate with sliced black olives shaped like tiny spiders and garnish with chives, if desired. You can also use a toothpick and diluted food dye to draw spiderwebs along the top of the deviled eggs as well for decoration (like our thumbnail).
- Refrigerate until ready to serve
