Fried Cheese Curds Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb white cheddar cheese curds
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cups seasoned breadcrumbs or panko
  • Oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. Pat cheese curds dry with paper towels.
  2. In one bowl, whisk together flour, garlic powder, paprika, and salt.
  3. In a second bowl, whisk eggs and milk.
  4. Place breadcrumbs in a third bowl.
  5. Dip each cheese curd into the flour mixture, then egg mixture, then breadcrumbs, coating completely.
  6. For extra crispy curds, repeat the egg and breadcrumb step a second time.
  7. Freeze breaded curds for 20–30 minutes to help prevent leaking while frying.
  8. Heat oil to 350°F in a deep skillet or fryer.
  9. Fry cheese curds in small batches for 1–2 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  11. Serve hot with ranch or marinara sauce.
