Brioche Bread Pudding Recipe
Ingredients:
- 6 cups brioche bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup raisins (optional)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
- Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)
- Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream, for serving (optional)
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Bread:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick cooking spray.
- Place the brioche bread cubes in the prepared baking dish in an even layer.
-
Make the Custard:
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and salt until well combined.
-
Combine Bread and Custard:
- Pour the custard mixture evenly over the bread cubes, pressing down gently to ensure all the bread is soaked in the custard. Let it sit for about 10 minutes to absorb.
-
Add Raisins (Optional):
- If using raisins, sprinkle them evenly over the soaked bread cubes and gently stir to distribute them throughout the pudding.
-
Top with Butter:
- Dot the top of the bread pudding with the small pieces of unsalted butter.
-
Bake:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.
-
Cool and Serve:
- Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
-
Optional Toppings:
- Serve the brioche bread pudding warm, topped with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra indulgent treat.
Enjoy your delicious and comforting brioche bread pudding!
