Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day. I’ll admit, this post is hard to write, but I wanted to share something with you. For most people, today is all about the green beer, shamrocks, and good times. For me, it’s more complicated. St. Patrick’s Day is the anniversary of my mom’s passing, and it’s always a tough one to get through.

I’ve gone back and forth on whether to talk about this, but I think it’s important to share; not just the joyful parts of life, but the hard ones too. Life isn’t always simple or easy, but it’s real, and that’s what connects us.

My mom and I didn’t always see eye to eye. We had our share of disagreements, and our relationship wasn’t without its rough patches. But if there’s one thing I know, it’s that we loved each other fiercely. Even when things weren’t perfect, love was always there, and that’s what I hold onto.

Today, I’m giving myself some space to just be. If I’m a little quieter or not as involved in the St. Patrick’s Day buzz, it’s because I’m spending time reflecting and remembering. It’s not always easy, but it feels right to take this day and let myself feel the mix of emotions that comes with it; grief, gratitude, and a longing for the moments we shared.

Today, I’m trying to focus on the good times we had, even though it’s hard. I want to celebrate her life in a way she’d be proud of, even if that just means sitting quietly with my thoughts, listening to music she loved, or taking a walk in her honor.

If you’re out celebrating, I hope you have a wonderful day. Maybe take a moment to think about someone you’ve loved and lost or appreciate the people you still have with you. Life can be short and messy, but it’s full of moments that matter, and those are worth holding onto.

Thank you for letting me share this with you. It’s not easy to write, but it feels good to put it out there. Happy St. Patrick’s Day. Celebrate big, love hard, and don’t forget to cherish the little things.
