Frozen

Frozen

You look at me, and swear you see,
A normal girl with purpose,
That is not the case, that isn't me.
I've been searching for so long,
For a place to call my home,
But no matter where I go,
My smile is just for show.

Everything seems so simple,
When you're on the outside looking in,
You see smiles and laughter aplenty,
And the thought just never occurs,
That deep down inside this "normal" girl,
Is a woman fighting for her freedom?

Each time I think I will break away,
Something seems to halt me,
And for a short while, I forget myself,
Becoming who they want me to be,
No matter how hard I kick and fight,
I will never be unfrozen.
