Roll-Out Sugar Cookie Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 large egg

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • ½ tsp salt

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

  2. Mix in the egg and vanilla extract.

  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.

  4. Add dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until a soft dough forms.

  5. Divide dough in half, flatten into disks, and chill for 1 hour.

  6. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

  7. Roll dough on a lightly floured surface to ¼-inch thickness.

  8. Cut out shapes with cookie cutters and transfer to baking sheets.

  9. Bake 8–10 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.

  10. Cool completely before decorating.
