Holiday Butter Cookie Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened

  • ¾ cup granulated sugar

  • 1 large egg

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract (or 1 tsp vanilla + 1 tsp almond extract)

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

  • ½ tsp salt

  • Optional: holiday sprinkles, colored sugar, chocolate for dipping

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

  2. Cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.

  3. Mix in the egg and vanilla (or almond extract).

  4. Add flour and salt, stirring until a soft dough forms.

  5. Scoop or roll dough into 1-inch balls.

  6. Roll in sprinkles or colored sugar if desired, then place on baking sheet.

  7. Gently flatten each cookie with the bottom of a glass or your palm.

  8. Bake 10–12 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.

  9. Cool completely.

  10. Optional: Dip half of each cookie in melted chocolate and add festive sprinkles.
