Gingerbread Cookie Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tbsp ground ginger

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg

  • ½ tsp ground cloves

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ¾ cup unsalted butter, softened

  • ¾ cup brown sugar

  • 1 large egg

  • ½ cup molasses

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, whisk together flour, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, baking soda, and salt.

  2. In another bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until fluffy.

  3. Mix in the egg, molasses, and vanilla.

  4. Gradually add dry ingredients and mix until dough forms.

  5. Divide dough, flatten into disks, and chill for 1–2 hours.

  6. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line baking sheets with parchment.

  7. Roll dough to ¼-inch thickness on a floured surface.

  8. Cut out shapes and place on baking sheets.

  9. Bake 8–10 minutes for soft cookies or 10–12 minutes for crisp ones.

  10. Cool completely before decorating.
