Steak with Creamy Portobello Garlic Sauce

Steak with Creamy Portobello Garlic Sauce Recipe
Ingredients:
-
2 ribeye or sirloin steaks (about 1 inch thick)
-
Salt and black pepper to taste
-
2 tablespoons olive oil or butter
-
2 cups sliced portobello mushrooms
-
3 cloves garlic, minced
-
1/2 cup heavy cream
-
1/4 cup beef broth
-
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional)
-
1 tablespoon fresh thyme or 1 teaspoon dried thyme
-
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
-
Season steaks with salt and pepper.
-
Heat olive oil or butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear steaks 3-4 minutes per side for medium-rare, or to your desired doneness. Remove and let rest.
-
In the same pan, add mushrooms and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
-
Add garlic and thyme, sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
-
Stir in beef broth, scraping up any browned bits. Simmer for 2-3 minutes.
-
Lower heat, add cream and mustard. Stir and simmer until sauce thickens, 3-5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
-
Serve sauce over the rested steaks.
Perfect with mashed potatoes or roasted vegetables.
