Nightshade Negroni Cocktail Recipe

Nightshade Negroni Cocktail Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 ounces gin
  • 1 ounce Campari
  • 1 ounce sweet vermouth
  • 1/2 ounce nightshade-infused syrup
  • Orange twist, for garnish
  • Ice cubes

Nightshade-infused Syrup:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup mixed nightshade berries (such as black nightshade, deadly nightshade, or garden huckleberries)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Nightshade-infused Syrup:

  1. In a saucepan, combine the water, granulated sugar, and mixed nightshade berries.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  3. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes, allowing the flavors to infuse.
  4. Remove the saucepan from heat and let the syrup cool completely.
  5. Strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a clean container, discarding the nightshade berries. Store the syrup in the refrigerator until ready to use.

2. Prepare the Nightshade Negroni:

  1. Fill a mixing glass or cocktail shaker with ice cubes.
  2. Add the gin, Campari, sweet vermouth, and nightshade-infused syrup to the mixing glass.
  3. Stir the mixture well until chilled, about 30 seconds.
  4. Strain the cocktail into a chilled rocks glass filled with ice cubes.
  5. Garnish the Nightshade Negroni with an orange twist.
  6. Serve and enjoy responsibly!

Note: Nightshade berries are toxic if ingested in large quantities, so it's important to use them sparingly and always strain the syrup before using it in cocktails. If nightshade berries are not available or you're unsure about their safety, you can omit them from the recipe or substitute with another infused syrup for a similar flavor profile. As always, exercise caution and drink responsibly.
