Ingredients:
• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• 2 cups granulated sugar
• 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
• 2 teaspoons baking soda
• 1 teaspoon baking powder
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1 cup buttermilk (room temperature)
• 1 cup hot water (or strong brewed coffee)
• 1/2 cup vegetable oil
• 2 large eggs (room temperature)
• 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions:
• Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
• In a large bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
• In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, hot water (or coffee), oil, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
• Gradually combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients, mixing until just incorporated (do not overmix).
• Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans.
• Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
• Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
