French Toast Sticks
Ingredients:
- 4 slices of thick-cut bread (such as brioche or Texas toast)
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Butter or oil for cooking
- Maple syrup or powdered sugar for serving (optional)
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Bread:
- Slice each piece of bread into thick strips, about 1 inch wide, to form sticks. Set aside.
-
Prepare the Egg Mixture:
- In a shallow dish or bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon until well combined.
-
Dip the Bread Sticks:
- Dip each bread stick into the egg mixture, coating both sides evenly. Allow any excess mixture to drip off.
-
Cook the French Toast Sticks:
- Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Add a small amount of butter or oil to coat the surface.
- Place the coated bread sticks in the skillet or griddle, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Repeat with the remaining bread sticks, adding more butter or oil to the pan as needed.
-
Serve:
- Once cooked, transfer the French toast sticks to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil.
- Serve the French toast sticks warm, optionally with maple syrup or powdered sugar for dipping or drizzling.
-
