Liquidation Nightmare

Liquidation Nightmare

Hey all you out there in Cyberspace!!!

So just a few nights ago, my grandmother announced that she wanted to go to my work to shop... Those of you who follow me on Facebook know that I work at a store that is currently undergoing liquidation. We don't offer the same products and services; we cannot look items up in our system, we cannot give additional discounts on damaged products, and we cannot even exchange anything. Each and every day, I get screamed at by people wanting everything for nothing, and not understanding that this is a liquidation sale, not an auction.
My grandmother became one of those customers I cannot stand while working. From the moment we entered the store, she complained about how she could get all of the items at a cheaper price by shopping at the dreaded Wal-Mart. She kept asking questions like "When are the trucks coming to bring more stuff," and "your store is so empty, they should fill this up". I literally became so frustrated that I almost just took her to Wal-Mart. What is it about a  closing store that not a single soul on this planet understands?

   A closing store means:

  • WE ARE CLOSING: Not moving, not relocating.
  • NO NEW SHIPMENTS: We are not gaining any new items because it is our goal to empty out the store.
  • NO RETURNS OR EXCHANGES: We are emptying out the store, not taking items back.
  • SET PRICES: I cannot stress this part enough... THIS IS NOT AN AUCTION!!!!!  You cannot negotiate a price on your apples and beans at the grocery store, what makes this any different?

Retail has always been my happy place in the career world, my safe haven. Now, I am just starting to hate people; every one, every where. Have any of you ever gone through something similar? How did you get past it?
