Apple Cinnamon Streusel Scones Recipe

For the Scones:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/2 cup diced apple (peeled and cored)
  • 2/3 cup milk (plus extra for brushing)

For the Streusel Topping:

  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cold

For the Icing:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1-2 tablespoons milk or cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon.

  3. Using a pastry cutter or your fingertips, cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
