Beef and Broccoli Stir-Fry Recipe

Ingredients:

For the Beef Marinade:

  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

For the Stir-Fry Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water

For the Stir-Fry:

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 3 green onions, chopped
  • Cooked white rice, for serving
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

1. Marinate the Beef:

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the thinly sliced flank steak with soy sauce, rice vinegar, cornstarch, sesame oil, grated ginger, and minced garlic. Toss until the beef is evenly coated in the marinade. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes, or up to 30 minutes for maximum flavor.

2. Prepare the Stir-Fry Sauce:

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, cornstarch, and water until well combined. Set aside.

3. Stir-Fry:

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the marinated beef to the skillet in a single layer, allowing it to sear without overcrowding the pan. Cook for 1-2 minutes per side until browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the broccoli florets and red bell pepper slices. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are crisp-tender.
  4. Return the cooked beef to the skillet with the vegetables. Pour the prepared stir-fry sauce over the beef and vegetables.
  5. Cook, stirring constantly, for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and vegetables evenly.
  6. Remove the skillet from heat and sprinkle chopped green onions and sesame seeds on top for garnish.

4. Serve:

  1. Serve the beef and broccoli stir-fry hot over cooked white rice.
  2. Enjoy the savory and tender beef combined with crisp broccoli and bell peppers in a flavorful sauce!

5. Note: Adjust the thickness of the sauce according to your preference by adding more or less cornstarch slurry.
