Spicy Carolina Reaper Beef and Potato Stir-Fry Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 pound beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
- 2 large potatoes, peeled and diced
- 1 Carolina Reaper pepper, finely chopped (use gloves when handling)
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 2 bell peppers (any color), thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Cooked rice or noodles, for serving
- Fresh cilantro or green onions, chopped, for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Beef:
- In a bowl, combine the sliced beef with soy sauce, oyster sauce, and rice vinegar. Let it marinate for at least 15-20 minutes.
-
Cook the Potatoes:
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the diced potatoes and cook until golden brown and crispy, about 8-10 minutes. Remove the potatoes from the skillet and set aside.
-
Cook the Beef:
- In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the marinated beef and cook until browned and cooked through, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
-
Prepare the Stir-Fry Sauce:
- In a small bowl, whisk together the hoisin sauce, brown sugar, and a splash of water to create a sauce. Set aside.
-
Stir-Fry the Vegetables:
- In the same skillet, add the minced garlic, sliced Carolina Reaper pepper, and thinly sliced onion. Stir-fry for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
-
Combine Ingredients:
- Add the bell peppers to the skillet and stir-fry for an additional 2-3 minutes until slightly softened.
-
Bring It Together:
- Return the cooked potatoes and beef to the skillet. Pour the prepared stir-fry sauce over the ingredients and toss everything together until evenly coated. Cook for another 2-3 minutes to heat through.
-
Adjust Seasoning:
- Taste the stir-fry and adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper as needed. Be cautious with the Carolina Reaper pepper, as it is extremely spicy.
-
Serve:
- Serve the spicy Carolina Reaper beef and potato stir-fry hot over cooked rice or noodles. Garnish with chopped fresh cilantro or green onions if desired.
-
Enjoy:
- Enjoy this unique and flavorful stir-fry dish with a fiery kick from the Carolina Reaper pepper. Be prepared for the heat, and savor the delicious combination of tender beef, crispy potatoes, and spicy peppers!
Note: For a milder version, you can reduce the amount of Carolina Reaper pepper used or substitute with a milder chili pepper. Adjust the stir-fry sauce ingredients to your taste preferences, adding more or less sweetness or acidity as desired.
